Genuine DPF solutions | No more limp mode | No more loss of power | Reduced fuel consumption
If you're reading this, it's either because you currently have a DPF problem with your vehicle, or because you don't want to have a DPF problem.
Be aware, many companies will tell you they can provide a 'dpf delete' on your vehicle. But do you need a delete or a genuine software solution? Have you been made aware of the potential legal implications of modifying a vehicle in such a way that could increase emissions and cause your vehicle to fail its MOT?
We've been asked to provide a 'dpf delete remap' on many vehicles that didn't need it. We've found the root causes have varied from the catalytic converter being blocked through to glow plugs being the root cause of an issue where a garage has said to their customer 'you need to remove your DPF'. So the first thing to consider is... is my DPF the actual problem? Are you sure it's your DPF that's at fault?
The other thing to bear in mind is this; should you replace the diesel particulate filter with a genuine part or an aftermarket part. It's not unheard of for an aftermarket DPF cost around £350 whereas the genuine item would cost £1,500 to £2,000. From our point of view, NEVER consider aftermarket parts. They just don't contain the relevant amount of platinum to work properly. We've known aftermarket parts to last for just 2 weeks before failing whereas we've known the genuine items to last over 250,000 miles! So in our professional opinion, aftermarket DPFs are not a long term or cost effective solution. When replacing a DPF, only replace with a genuine factory item.
The next question to consider is, should you remove your DPF, and get a 'dpf delete remap' as well? This is potentially a legal mine field. It's a legal requirement that garages and testing stations will be required to check for a diesel particulate filter in the inspection of an exhaust system as part of the MOT. A vehicle will fail its MOT where a vehicle which had a DPF fitted as standard has had it removed. But this is a visual inspection only and does not says anything about the inside of the diesel particulate filter itself. The legislation also says that if the vehicle fails emmissions because the DPF has been removed, then it's an offence to drive that vehicle on the road. But, the flip side is that if a vehicle passes its emissions test despite the DPF having been removed, then surely no offence has been committed?
Mobile Remaps provides DPF solutions. We've been asked by main dealers to provide the correct DPF remap solution to customer vehicles where a DPF remains as part of the exhaust system. We've also been asked by garages and private individuals to provide DPF solutions where they have removed the DPF from the exhaust to pass an emissions test. What Mobile Remaps does not do is remove the diesel particulate filter itself. We simply provide the correct software solution for your needs. What we will also tell you is simply this, if you remove your DPF and don't want to fall foul of any legislation, then make sure you only drive your vehicle off the road, such as a race track where the regulations are different.
